Environmental Policy

Hillbrooke Hotels' aim is to pursue a sensible and sustainable environmental policy.

We strive to:

- Manage our operations and activities to comply with applicable environmental laws, regulations, licences and other commitments to which the company subscribes.
- Minimise water wastage by renewing towels on demand only.
- Use suppliers from within 50 miles of each hotel, where quality allows.
- Use low energy light bulbs and install movement sensors to minimise lighting in corridors wherever practicable.
- Recycle as much of our glass (brown, green and clear), paper, organic and non organic waste as is practicably possible.
- Grow our own vegetables (and rear our own pigs!) at those of our hotels where this is viable.
- Compost green waste from our kitchens wherever possible.
- Recycle our cooking oil into bio fuel.
- Dispose of all our IT equipment responsibly via local recycling schemes.
- Reduce the consumption of fuel, energy and water and use renewable and/or recyclable resources wherever practicable.
- Provide information, instruction and training for employees on relevant environmental issues.

Hillbrooke has celebrated its first successful year at The Master Builder's at Buckler's Hard.
After taking over the Master Builder’s in late 2008 and after several months of refurbishment, Hillbrooke re-opened the hotel in April 2009 and now, one year later, the hotel is well established as one of the major destination hotels on the South Coast. We look forward to another summer of fun in 2010.
